Heritage restoration and new construction of a commercial building in the Downtown Eastside. Challenges included retention and restoration of existing heritage structure to meet seismic code. Extensive structural work. Challenging site constraints for parking and loading required design innovation. Utilized 3D scanning technology to create as-built 3D construction documents.
895 East Hastings
This former industrial building in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, required seismic bracing and reinforcement to convert it into a commercial space. All of the original timber structure was restored and sand blasted to its original state.

Renovation of a 1986 office and retail building as part of the revitalization of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside/Strathcona commercial area.
